MY STORY – is the story of a recovering ‘Plastic-a-holic’
Hi, my name is Rani and I am the founder of the Boho Bee Company which is where my business story starts. My business was born out of a deep desire to make a change in the lives of those I care about most – my family, my community and my town.

Living in a small town in Maryland, we were fortunate to be able to raise three amazing children who were involved in outdoor sports and activities that led to an enduring love of the outdoors and nature. We recycled, did not litter; we believed we had a light ecological footprint. We thought we were doing all the right things to help look after the environment. That all changed in 2019.

On a trip to New Zealand, I saw students of all ages marching through the streets of main cities, to draw attention to major environmental issues. The care and keeping of the environment was a part of the daily conversation with everyone I met. My niece and nephew told me that plastic was banned from their school lunches. NO PLASTIC AT ALL? I could not believe it. How were school lunches wrapped? At my house, we had used plastic wrap and plastic baggies every day to hold our school lunches. I had used and thrown out thousands of plastic bags over the 12 years each of my three children attended school. In addition, we had purchased hundreds of non-recycled water bottles while traveling to sports events and on family trips. I imagined the actual mountain of plastic bags, bottles, and cling wrap garbage I had created. I had singlehandedly contributed to the landfill. Worse still, I learned, that mountain of plastic is still there, not breaking down, and it won’t for hundreds of years.

This was my eureka moment! I realized, as parents and community members we are in a position to model good environmental practices. We can each make a small change in our daily lives by reducing our use of plastic. That is why I formed the Boho Bee Company – to create an eco friendly alternative to plastic for keeping food fresh, while reducing our plastic footprint.

Boho Bee Company wraps are an alternative to single use plastic bags, plastic wrap, and every day non-recyclable wrapping. Made from 100% cotton, these all-natural food wraps are an easy, reusable way to make one small change in your family and community. Wrap your sandwich in a packet, give flowers in a ‘cone’, pack a snack in a mini-cup, cover your pasta salad for the next ‘pot luck’ with a reusable, recyclable Boho Bee Company wrap. Keep your bread fresher longer in an extra large wrap, stop your guacamole from turning brown, cover your cheese platter on the table or in the fridge. These wraps are excellent for children with allergies. Simply unwrap the food and use the wrap as a plate. Boho Bee Company wraps are also perfect for children to use in the car. In addition to their amazing beeswax smell, Boho Bee Company wraps have natural antibacterial and antifungal qualities infused into them. This helps prevent food from spoiling, by keeping it fresher longer.
